Herbicide Applications Part 1
Mike Knepper
I have spent the last few months on many of the lakes here in Florida and I also got to talk to a lot of folks and they all told me our lakes and rivers are in real trouble. The number one problem is the chemical spraying of aquatic plants by our very own FWC. But they are not smart enough to know the damage that they are causing so I need your help, please call Governor DeSantis and tell him we need a new board at the FWC, just like he did with the SFWMD.

Herbicide Applications Part 2
Lake Kissimmee has been sprayed to death. The aquatic vegetation is just a fraction of what it use to be and yet the FWC continues to spray. The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes are very important because they have to filter the water coming from Orlando before it gets to Lake Okeechobee. This video is just part 1 on Lake Kissimmee. Stay tuned for part 2.
I am going to ask you again to call Governor DeSantis and tell him to replace the FWC Board.

  • Is spraying weeds in Central Florida lakes, contributing to Southwest Florida’s water crisis?
Disclaimer, I am no scientist, or biologist but have spent my entire 57 yrs as a successful fisherman, as a commercial/ charter captain in the keys for 24 years. I have also regularly fished every major freshwater lake ,and chain lake systems since 1967. And our family handed down our Kissimmee river weekend fish camp we have owned since the 1980's.

The first thing any truly successful fisherman learns is to "read the water" ,its quality, movement, external conditions, and food supplies through the food chain. Although I admittedly am not science educated, I call BS on the science. It has been Florida' "best and brightest" since the late 50's that result in the monumental mess we have now.
